• The UltraBay II provides both dedicated Write Protected USB and FireWire ports, as well as dedicated
  Read/Write USB and FireWire ports.
• SATA/IDE/SCSI ports can be temporarily switched between Write Blocked (Read-Only) and Read/Write modes via LCD/keypad configuration. To maximize forensic safety, the UltraBay II automatically reverts to Write-Blocked mode at power-up and after a drive is detached:
  • The SATA/IDE/SCSI ports auto-configure to Write Protected (Read-Only) mode at every power up.
  • The SATA/IDE/SCSI ports may be manually configured to allow Read/Write operation using the
    front panel LCD Control after a drive is connected.
  • The SATA/IDE/SCSI ports automatically revert to Write Protected (Read-Only) operation after the drive is removed.
• The UltraBay II has both FireWire800 and SATA internal connections to the FRED System for write blocked services. Future firmware updates will allow simultaneous connection and smart inter-operation between FW800 and SATA interfaces for maximum aggregate performance and functionality.
• Firmware updates available at no charge through Tableau Firmware Update. Unlike less-functional
  integrated solutions, all firmware updates can be applied using existing communication channels and do not require labor-intensive temporary re-cabling of the forensic workstation.
• Full HPA/DCO support for SATA & IDE devices.
• SCSI supports SE and LVD devices.
• The USB 2.0 write-blocked port has same range of device support as The UltraBlock USB (T8). Additionally, the USB implementation is about 25-35% faster than the standalone UltraBlock USB (T8).
• FireWire write-blocked port has 9-pin FW800 connector and supports both FW400 and FW800 devices.
• The UltraBay II is supported by Tableau Disk Monitor application.
• The UltraBay II is supported by Tableau "tabphys" library. This will allow it to be recognized by Encase upon release of the updated Encase imager by Guidance Software.

The UltraBay II is exclusively available with select Digital Intelligence FRED systems and is not available separately or from any other source.

New Ventilated Imaging Shelf

Selected FRED systems have also been upgraded to include our new ventilated imaging shelf for maximum drive cooling during the imaging process:

• Integrated Retractable imaging shelf (fully retracts into the system when not in use).
• Dual fans for maximum cooling and surface coverage.
• On/Off switch to control airflow.
• Slotted, cushioned, non-conductive, non-skid, surface supports all popular drive sizes (3-1/2", 2-1/2", 1.8", etc).

The Complete Forensic Hardware Solution

FRED systems are optimized for stationary laboratory acquisition and analysis. Simply remove the hard drive(s) from the suspect system and plug them into FRED and acquire the digital evidence. FRED will acquire data directly from IDE/EIDE/ ATA/SATA/ATAPI/SCSI I/SCSI II/SCSI III hard drives and storage devices and save forensic images to DVD, CD or or hard drives. FRED systems also acquire data from CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Compact Flash, Micro Drives, Smart Media, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, xD Cards, Secure Digital Media and Multimedia Cards. The FRED Dual RAID system accommodates up to 20.0TB of internal RAID storage. All FRED systems include the UltraBay,front panel connections, and removable drive trays so there is no need to open up the processing system to install drives or crawl around the back of the unit to attach devices.

Fast, Functional and Flexible

FRED systems come with two high capacity hard drives. One of these drives is used for your Operating System(s), forensic acquisition, processing tools and the other drive as a work drive for restoring and processing digital evidence. FRED comes pre-installed with a Dual-Boot Operating System (Win98 DOS, and Windows XP) on the Primary Drive. Additionally, a fully-loaded, pre-configured Suse Linux installation image is also included on DVD for installation if desired. Both hard drives are supplied in shock-mounted removable drive trays. FRED Systems also come with integrated hot-swappable IDE and SATA bays to enable rapid installation and removal of evidence storage drives without the need for rebooting the system.

Network Functionality Built In

All FRED systems can be connected directly to a network (10/100/1000 Mb ethernet) for use as a standard workstation or file server when not processing or acquiring data.
