Cell phone evidence can provide crucial evidence in any digital investigation. The methodology to manually document the information stored on a phone can be tedious and very time consuming. There are tools available to quickly and accurately extract and document the contents of cell phones, saving time and money while still preserving the integrity of the digital evidence.

This 4 day course is focused on providing the student with instruction and hands-on exercises that utilize the most versatile and user friendly tools in the industry today including:

• XRY and XACT from Micro Systemation ®
• Data Pilot Secure View® from Susteen®

The lecture and hands on exercises will cover topics such as:

• Cell phone technologies currently used including; GSM, CDMA and iDen
• Search and seizure issues related to cell phone evidence
• Collection and troubleshooting cell phones as evidence
• Identifying other potential sources of evidence related to cell phone communications
• Extraction, documentation and reporting of the data contained in various types of cell phones, SIM Cards, and data storage cards
